We here at BlueFlip Art just want to come out and say that we’re are huge Bountee fans. For those not in the know, Bountee is a great social t-shirt site that offers unique, user-submitted designs. Well for the month of October, they’ve teamed up with Drawn.ca and started a contest: The best user-submitted design in the category of “creativity and inspiration” wins 31 free t-shirts.
Now we love this idea and wanted to sweeten the pot, so we’ve also tossed in a $75 BlueFlip Art gift certificate towards the grand prize. Draw something great, have it worn by thousands, win free t-shirts and deck out your house with great BlueFlip Art prints - sweet.
More information can be found at Drawn.ca and submissions can be seen and voted on over at Bountee. Now go get crackin’!
The Helm Gallery
September 24th, 2007
Those of you art-lovin’ folks who happen to live in the Pacific Northwest owe it to yourselves to stop by the Helm Gallery in Tacoma, Washington where the exhibition “The Kindness of Strangers” is showing through October 10th. As they write on their site,
“The show started out as an internet-based experiment where we asked complete strangers via email if they “had any time to help a stranger?” The request asks for the donation of a drawing in exchange for the small amount of exposure that we have to offer as a new art space. We used social networking sites such as myspace and flickr to find artists who were posting work on paper that fit within the broad aesthetic range that the Helm aspires to show. Originally we expected to have very few people respond positively to an email that essentially asked for free artwork, but the responses have been overwhelming. The Kindness has truly been an optimism-inspiring project to work on.”
As they also note, all profits from the show “will be used to fund community projects, strengthen our residency program, and broaden the artistic representation in our small, developing city.” Be sure to check it out.

You like us, you really like us! We’ve been fortunate enough to get some mentions on some pretty great blogs and thought we’d share with you.
Design Sponge had this to say:
“fun, affordable artwork from blueflip art. blueflip allows artists to donate 10% of the sale price of their prints to a non-profit charity of their choice. i love that more sites are getting into giving back- it’s such a great example to set.”
Kitsune Noir was overheard saying:
“I have a ton of artwork in my apartment, and unfortunately, I never get it framed. But nevertheless, I still love art, especially when it’s really cheap, and still great looking. Thanks to BlueFlip, that’s possible. They have nearly 30 artists in their roster, all with multiple pieces for sale, and with prices around $20 each. And they’re not crappy or small either. The pieces above by the amazing Eduardo Recife are around 17″x 12″, and go for $37.95 each. That’s a really awesome deal for such an amazing artist. Definitely check out the rest of their artists as well, there’s a style for every taste.”
PoppyTalk was quite smitten with Eduardo Recife’s prints
Spare Room and Curious Artist are both fans of Will Murai’s “Carmen Rocks”
I Want Your Skull (great name!) loves Aaron McKinney’s “Day of the Dead”
Thanks to all who like BlueFlip Art enough to pass the word along!
